Hello Everyone, I expect many of you had given up all hope of ever seeing Ian Gillan’s DVD inside your players. For a few moments, so did we. But after many years of trials and tribulations, Ian’s film is now ready to hit your screens. We were determined to keep our independence as filmmakers to ensure we gave you – and Ian – the very best documentary and the greatest value for money that we could. But as plans for an independent web-based release neared fruition, we were approached with an offer from Universal, the world’s biggest record company. And unlike other offers we received, they agreed with our theory that fans of Purple, Gillan, Sabbath etc deserved the best (let’s face it, that’s not always been the case through the years…). So, with Ian’s blessing, we signed with Universal and so far they have been fantastic. They covered our mammoth 8-week edit and seem as genuinely enthused about this project as we are. I’m amazed at the care and effort they’ve put in and things are looking good. This morning we received the first test-pressings from them of the two jam-packed discs that will make up the package and it really does look stunning. The menu system is breathtaking and the artwork is superb. And the six-hours twenty minutes of footage that makes up the package is also pretty amazing, even if I do say so myself. Ian Gillan has a very gripping story to tell. Everyone who’s seen it so far (including IG himself and Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull – our next subject) has loved it. I hope when you see it you agree it’s been worth the (very long) wait. Not long to wait now. Kind Regards, Craig Hooper |
